CaptionBridge is a Chrome extension that displays bilingual translated subtitles on YouTube videos and live streams.

Data processed

The extension reads available YouTube caption text from the current video page. Caption text may be sent to translation endpoints over HTTPS to generate translated subtitles.

Purpose

Caption text is processed only to provide the extension's single purpose: displaying translated subtitles for YouTube videos and live streams.

Data not collected

The extension does not collect names, email addresses, account identifiers, passwords, payment information, health information, location, browsing history, or authentication data.

Storage

The extension stores user preferences in Chrome storage, such as target language, subtitle order, font size, colors, background opacity, subtitle position, live translation mode, and translation endpoint settings.

Sharing and sale

The extension does not sell user data. The extension does not transfer user data for advertising, credit evaluation, lending, or purposes unrelated to subtitle translation.

Retention

Caption text is processed transiently for translation. The extension may cache translated subtitles locally in the user's browser to avoid repeated translation requests for the same video.

Security

Translation requests are sent over HTTPS.
